An ambitious concept to revolutionize marinas
The world of marinas is about to change. French navigator and engineer Damien Grimont has created a brand new marina concept inspired by underground parking lots. The design involves several underground levels that are stacked around a circular axis. On the surface, another round basin would serve as a regular marina. The inferior levels would be dry and could include a parking lot, shops and all kinds of services. A simple idea that would revolutionize marinas and have a benefical impact on the coastline by limiting the space occupied by moored boats. But if the concept of underground parking lots is quite simple and well known, its implementation is a tad more complicated. Several issues come to mind (legal, financial), but its creator claims that principle issue is people’s reluctance to change. Wait and sea!
