Superyacht of the Week: The Baltic 116 Doryan

With the launch of the stunning new blue water cruiser Doryan, Baltic Yachts has delivered a truly impressive sailing yacht that perfectly combines timeless design with perfect living comfort and contemporary comfort, whether she is cruising with her guests or enjoying some down-time. At 35.5 metres, Doryan is yet another example of the successful formula of cooperations between Baltic Yachts, Nauta Design for all interiors and judel/vrolijk & co. for naval architecture, with the latter two coop

It's easy to notice how Doryan would be equally enjoyable at anchor in a secluded bay as she would be during the long stretch of an ocean passage. Her large deck space, without any unnecessary clutter, is sleek and open; perfect for some relaxing sunbathing as well as smooth operation. She was specifically designed for short-handed and long range cruising as well as racing, occasionally. Being all about convenience and efficiency, Doryan's sails can be managed through a dedicated remote control system and bush buttons on the aft cockpit. Practicality is key, making her perfectly capable of being operated by a small crew.

Upon boarding, Doryan is instantly spacious and welcoming. With an open and luxurious ambiance for her exteriors and interiors, yet she has a pleasant no-nonsense quality that gives her a refreshing charm. The designs are undeniably modern, lacking any kind of unnecessary and distracting frills, yet she doesn't become dull for a second. On the contrary, it's exciting to imagine crossing the ocean onboard such a yacht, welcoming and luxurious but not distracting you from what it's all about: enjoying the ocean.

The initial design brief was to create a timeless and elegant sailing yacht, which Doryan certainly has become. In every aspect, she skilfully combines those ingredients that make a successful contemporary sailing yacht, while adding her own personality and a pleasing sense of style. Starting with her striking exterior; an eye-catching bold red hull colour, she boasts unique lines and a sharp silhouette that give her a confident and strong look. The generous open deck space offers large amounts of space and there is an overall friendly atmosphere.

Offering protection from the elements, the wraparound deck house has a big cockpit aft with two large U-shaped lounge areas, that are perfect to enjoy whether Doryan is cruising or at anchor. Great views and contemporary design make this an area that is comfortable, stylish and open, while being perfectly secluded from the elements when needed. This is the perfect spot for guests to sit outside and enjoy cruising, while right inside the main interior guest area can be found, with a spacious raised deck main saloon offering generous settee and a dining area seating 8 to 10 guests comfortably. This room is flooded with natural light due to the big panoramic windows, which offer stunning vista views that frame the well organised, elegant interior designs perfectly. Overall, Doryan's interiors were successfully designed to offer a luxurious, welcoming and generous ambiance, also extended into the crew quarters and galley.

The interiors are all about practical style and elegant luxury, with a collection of great guest suites offering attractive accommodation for every guest. There are five guest suites to be found onboard, with the large full beam master suite fore being the most sumptuous one.

This master offers a large stateroom, light and warm in style, and an impressively big en suite with bath tub, separate shower area and a warm modern design with subtle classic touches here and there. The stateroom is big, with windows on either side supplying natural light, and offers office and lounge areas. Ample storage space is supplied by the generous walk-in wardrobe.

Doryan's four remaining guest suites, two directly following the master quarters and two aft of the main saloon, are similarly styled, spacious and luxurious. All designed in Doryan's signature style, each stateroom is light, warm and spacious, and offers luxury en suites with big shower areas. Teak is combined with light colours and maple striped floorboards, courtesy of the skilled Nauta Design team.

Being perfectly suitable for ocean passage, great emphasis was put on living comfort and space. Noise reduction, separate areas for living sunbathing and operation, all this contributes to making Doryan a luxury yacht that is equally stylish as she is efficient and comfortable. It's easy to imagine spending time onboard, whether it's relaxing at anchor in a secluded bay or crossing an ocean in comfort, Doryan is all about comfort, elegance and class.
