Live from MYS: Onboard the new Columbus 40m Sport Hybrid superyacht Divine

SYT was invited on board Columbus Yacht’s brand new 40 metre Hybrid superyacht Divine, launched at the Palumbo Shipyard in May, on the first day at the Monaco Yacht Show. Project manager Jimmy Broddesson showed us around this futuristic yet homely and functional new superyacht.

Built on the tested and proven platform of the 40S Hybrid, which was launched in the summer of 2013, Divine is fitted with very similar on board features than her older sister, which has been optimised for a care-free family lifestyle and home-away-from-home on board atmosphere. Hot Lab design studio created a bright and homely interior where one can spend quality family time in a space that cleverly blurs the line between interior and exterior areas. The main salon features large sliding doors on either side that leads out on onto a two folding balconies, visually increasing the already spacious salon. Side decks have been kept to a functional width so as to offer the maximum interior volume.

Further forward on main deck is the master stateroom. The bright interior theme is continued here with the use of natural semi-dimensional wood panelling, seemingly untreated, and a selection of marbles and masonry that adds to the beach-house villa environment, so evident throughout the yacht. The suite houses a full beam en suite with his and hers wash-up areas and a combined double shower in the centre. A remarkably large walk-in wardrobe is placed on the starboard side.

The remaining guest cabins are located down stairs on the accommodation deck, with a full beam VIP cabin placed midships, and two twin cabins aft.

Upstairs is a large sky lounge that directly opens up onto the upper aft deck. Here guests can relax and get comfortable in the entertainment hub of the yacht, fitted with an advanced sound system and large LCD TV.

Outside, Divine’s trump card has to be the foredeck area ahead of the bridge, where one is welcomed with a dual level entertainment and relaxing area complete with oversized pool and sunbathing area, all coverable by an easy erectable sun awning. This space provides uninterrupted views ahead, and is sure to be a popular area on board while enjoying the day in a quite anchorage.

The yacht has again been equipped with a revolutionary hybrid propulsion system, offering the option to manoeuvre or spend time at anchor under electric power alone, while working in tandem with the diesel motors while underway to dramatically reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency.
