Queequeq

So named after the first character introduced to Ishmael (the narrator) in Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, Queequeg is a 56m explorer vessel designed to embody and emphasise the characteristics associated with her namesake simple, hardworking, rugged and adventurous. Queequeg travelled far from his homeland and this explorer concept is designed to follow suit.

“Queequeq is characterised by razor-sharp lines underlined — as frequently happens with my designs — by a bow that plays an important role in defining the overall style of the yacht,” explains Federico Fiorentino the founder and owner of his eponymous design studio. In this instance the bow is angular, pronounced and flows into a sharp, military inspired superstructure amidships.

With room for 12 guests across six cabins and a crew of 13, Queebeq is able to provide generous living spaces throughout. Located on the upper deck is an 88sqm owner’s suite with exclusive access to a private terrace, which includes an enclosed gym and clay pigeon shooting facility. A similarly sized VIP suite is found forward on the main deck, while two doubles and two twins are located on the lower deck along with crew quarters.

As highlighted by the capacity for clay pigeon shooting, fun is a central theme on board Queequeq. As well as storing a number of tenders and toys, this design also features a multifunctional virtual room. “The virtual room can be used as a cinema, [virtual] golf course or [virtual] shooting range,” continues Fiorentino.

A spa and wellness centre with panoramic sea view is located astern underneath the swimming pool area that can be replaced by extra storage space for oversized tenders and toys (10m-plus). The garage can accommodate two tenders or toys up to nine-metres in length. A helideck platform next to an enclosed pool on the upper deck completes Queequeq’s outfitting.

“With ocean crossing capability, the yacht is conceived to be able to explore and sail in every sea from the French Riviera to the Antarctic in comfort and safety. Queequeq could easily adopt a more efficient diesel-electric propulsion and pod transmission system to cut fuel consumption and emissions,” concludes Fiorentino.
