Marine Generators to Power Submergible Transport
The Opportunity
Swiber, a world class company in the offshore industry, offers its global-diverse
clients integrated services within three main business units: offshore construction
services, offshore marine services and engineering services. Swiber was
commissioned to build a huge submergible float-over barge in an Indonesian
shipyard.
Swiber (Newcruz Shipbuilding & Engineering Pte Ltd - Swiber Limited) turned to
Dresser-Rand to power Holmen Pacific and Atlantic because of its vast experience
in the marine industry and its use of the state-of-the-art technology and expansive
resources.
The Solution
Dresser-Rand provided the following equipment to power the Holmen Pacific and Atlantic barges:
Holmen Pacific
Main generators: Three SF480TA-SG Guascor®
gas engines (3 MW); 3 x 1,000kW, 415V/3ph/50Hz
Towing System: 250-ton bollard pull main and emergency lines; bridle recover system.
Holmen Atlantic
Main generators: Three SF360TA-SG Guascor gas
engines (2.25 MW); 3 x 750kW, 415V/3ph/50Hz
Towing System: 200-ton bollard pull main and emergency lines; bridle recover system.
The double cooling system maintains two independent cooling circuits, HT (80ºC) for the cylinder heads, and LT (30ºC) for oil cooler and after cooler with or without an oxidation exhaust catalyst. Such features allow for a number of benefits, including easy operations and maintenance (O&M), power supply in off-the-grid
areas and a heavy-duty, continuous energy source for non-stop maneuvering.
