When refurbishment projects throw you a curveball

One team vision…

The team at Solarglide like to think of ourselves as an extension of our Client’s team.

Some projects take years to complete and we’re often involved from the initial scope, right through to completion. Because of this, we pride ourselves in being adaptable to change and our dedication to offering exceptional customer service.

One recent, fairly straight forward project was a simple adhesive window film removal and replacement on board a well known vessel, the Marella Explorer II owned by TUI Group. A vessel we were familiar with, as we had recently supplied curtains as part of a different order.

The restaurant area had 24 roof windows covered in multi coloured adhesive film that had become a little dishevelled over time. The task was to replace this with silver adhesive solar film, which offers 93% solar glare reduction and reduces temperatures by up to 15ºC, making the area more comfortable for diners.

Our team of installation experts were scheduled to attend late November, but the project was brought forward at last minute by a couple of weeks; and the time on board we had allocated was just 10 days.

On arrival and inspection, our team noticed the existing film was actually glued vinyl, so couldn’t be removed and replaced properly within the allocated time on board.

After a number of discussions with the team, we were asked to paint over the restaurant windows, so that’s exactly what we did.

Some projects are relatively straight forward, some throw a curveball, but our Clients can rest assured that we will find solutions and be as adaptable as they need us to be.

We’re in business to make long term partnerships, not just to fulfill orders.

If you’re in the middle of a project that requires any window treatments, talk to us… we’re here to help YOU.
