Blinds that are safe for Children, travelling by sea

Solarglide provide Child Safe window dressings.

We don’t want to lose you with too much with legislation to read through… so let us summarise this for you.

Any blind we supply (Roller, Roman, Venetian and Pleated) that has a looped cord, will be fitted with a safety device. This device will be a discreet cleat or hook for the cord to wrap around, so there are no loose strings. These are fitted at a minimum height of 1.5m above the ground.

Why?

Whilst vessels sail with or without children, there are varying levels of legislation and advice around the world, but by fitting our products you can rest assured that whoever comes in close contact, will be safe.

The Make it Safe campaign from the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA) and RoSPA launched to promote window blind safety in all homes, public buildings and other environments where babies and young children may be present.

Do you have old blinds?

Consider investing in new blinds that are guaranteed to be safe. In fact, there are other options such as motorised products, which reduce the need for cords, these are great for any cabin or public space.

Which is the best child-safe window dressing?

There are lots of options for window dressings that are safe for young children, some have no operating cords at all and instead have a thumb tab or wand for manual control.

We also have blinds with bottom bars that can be lifted into varying positions on the window, so you get more flexible light control. With some blinds, they can be assembled with a simple breakaway chain that will pull apart with excess force, the good news is that they are easy to reassemble.
