New SY 550 - A modern yacht designed and made in Italy

The SY 550 is a modern yacht designed and made in Italy. It is the first in a series of three luxury trawler yacht models from 16 to 24 meters designed with the aim of bring charm and functionality to the genre, in a modern and appealing style, without sacrificing handcrafted construction.

The craft is approximately 17 metres long and is available in several versions that differ in interior layout and furnishings. Key features are the exceptional interior space and generous sun-lounging areas outside, which make full use of the considerable width.

The bow sundeck can easily accommodate four people lying stretched out and there is classic seating upfront too. The flying bridge offers every comfort, including refrigerated mini-bar and grill (optional), the aft area can be used is multipurpose, and the navigation mast can be chosen in steel or carbon. The cockpit, furnished with a comfortable lounge set-up, is a prime example of the care that has gone into this project in the smallest of details, such as the special niches for mooring winch buttons.

The research into maximum convenience reveals itself in every spec, for example, in the practical systems for water intake and discharge and smart high pressure pump for hosing down and cleaning with either salt or fresh water. The windshield, opportunely sectioned, emphasizes the structural integrity of the craft yet is subtly rounded to highlight its elegance. The aft French doors open full-width, their panels neatly folding one to each other away to the sides. Large transparent surfaces allow light to flood into the living room, making it a pleasant liveable area.

This is precisely the aim of the 550 and the whole range of Sundeck Yachts: to be a comfortable and luxurious residence at sea, wherever in the world. The kitchen is fully equipped and can be completed with dishwasher, icemaker and wine cabinet. Outside, as well as in the interior, light-grained teak gives a further touch of elegance and freshness. The sofas and armchairs can be upholstered in quality leather. A side door next to the steering position facilitates tricky manoeuvring. Optionally, the aft platform can be longer and submersible.

To reduce costs on long trips and cruises, engines are of the latest generation with common-rail technology. A Cummins turbo-diesel or FPT Industrial unit, from 450 to 500 horsepower, can be mounted and combined with inline shaft transmission and possible ZF joystick or Yachtcontroller command.

In displacement consumption is extremely low and the hull planes at a cruising speed of around 20 knots, all the while maintaining low fuel consumption thanks to the special two-phase displacement/planing hull. Facilities include air conditioning and generator (optional). An anti-roll system (optional) further increases the comfort level of passengers if desired.

Below deck there can be two to four cabins, with two to three bathrooms, according to different needs, including chartering. It is also possible to set up an office or further lounge space or meet other special requirements of customers. In the twin cabin at the stern there is also space for a washer-dryer. Quality construction methods and materials allow the realization of a solid and durable product, while expert carpenters guarantee high levels of finishing, typical of the best of Italian craftsmanship.
