Find out how we can help you electrify your fleet

Blue Propulsion by SYM Naval

When a shipowner considers electrifying a vessel, the first question is usually whether it pays off.

Part of the answer lies in an engineering fact: an electric motor converts around 90% of the energy it consumes into mechanical energy. A diesel engine, around 30%.

That difference in efficiency translates into real, measurable energy savings. The exact figure depends on each vessel: it is calculated from its current consumption, its operating hours and the power its operation requires.

These savings also have economic value. Several European countries have energy-efficiency support schemes that recognise them. In Spain, through the Energy Savings Certificates (CAE) system, the shipowner can receive financial compensation for transferring the project's certifiable energy savings.

At SYM Naval we have developed Blue Propulsion, our 100% electric propulsion system, with LFP batteries and our own energy management system, adapted to each vessel's operation.
