TEMA Propels Passenger Ship on Italy's Largest Lake

In August 2023 was officially inaugurated the hybrid motor vessel "Agone" with 2 x 150kw TEMA Electric motors integrated into the Parallel hybrid system.

Agone is the first hybrid boat on Lake Garda. The motor vessel was built by the Cartubi shipyard in collaboration with FincantieriSi and delivered to Navigazione Laghi a state-owned company that provides a public transport service on the 3 largest Italian lakes; Garda, Maggiore & Como.

The system integrates both traditional internal combustion engines Volvo Penta , TEMA Electric motor & 400 kwh batteries to optimize efficiency and reduce environmental impact. In a parallel hybrid setup, both power sources—internal combustion engine and TEMA electric motor—can independently or simultaneously drive the marine vessel.

The system allows 4 different operational modes, such as:

**Electric Mode: up to 6 knots

**Diesel Mode: from 6knots – 12 knots

**Boost Mode( Electric motor + Diesel ): 12.5 knots

**Generator Mode: batteries charghing / energy recovery

In electric mode the Agone motor vessel is capable of achieving more than 1 hour of autonomy at full electric motors power - 300 kW( 6 knots), including all onboard utilities.
