JIBER: the new Jib Furler System

Jiber is a structural jib or genoa furler that works without the usual aluminium extruded foils. The rod forestay is linked to the drum and the swivel, and is rotating, transmitting the torque and furling the sail. The sail can be hoisted up and down, and the halyard tension can be adjusted anytime. It is used exactly as a conventional furler, no training or adaptation required from the sailor. The shuttle locks in position and unlock automatically. Faster, safer sailing, better boat handling. The jib can be attached to the forestay using 3 systems: soft hanks, zip bag, tuff luff. The jib with soft hanks or zip bags can be taken down extremely fast in case of need, faster than conventional furlers.

Not having the aluminium foil means that we save approximately 30 kg against the best competitors. 30 kg might not seems much, but they are high! Is like sailing with 2 people hiking on the rails. As a side bonus we have better upwind performances thanks to reduced drag and windage near the leading edge for the jib. The boat sails higer and faster.A nice side effect is that the smaller dimensions of the device allows to have bigger sails. And they can be used reefed! Now owners that enjoy club racing don’t need to choose between the performances of tuff-luff or the easiness of a furler. you can have the best of both worlds, at the same time.
