WALDER ® boom brake , 40 YEARS !

Everything began in 1976, when Ernest Waelder and Noel Wyatt, two boaters thought a system to avoid the dramatic consequences for the crew and the boat, of a violent jibe, poorly controlled or accidental. Thus was born the Walder® boombrake .
The principle of operation is simple and brilliant. The braking is done by the friction of the rope which wraps on the drum. Back wind you adjust the tension of the rope from the cockpit and continue to sail. During a jibe, the boom travels by itself and smoothly.
Since its inception, the product has not undergone big changes, option of a double stainless steel guide arm, for even more robustness, swivel axis for the attachment under the boom, choice of anodizing colours to harmonize with the boom
However, WALDER® boom brake has modernized its boom brake to maximally optimize the mechanical principle of the brake, thus reducing his weight consistently, about 30% depending on the model, and making it more discreet and more aesthetic under the boom
Today, the range covers all mainsail surfaces up to 110 m2.
