Case Study of Solarglide by The British Assessment Bureau

In this case study, Solarglide share their story of implementing ISO 9001, explaining how it has helped their company move forward.

The challenge

Demonstrating your company is best of breed can''t be done with mere words, it has to be proven. With the team at Solarglide focused on pushing the company on, it was in early 2014 that Paul Pringle – Founder and Commercial Director at Solarglide – began looking at ISO 9001 as a fresh challenge. Paul recalled the early stages of looking into the standard, saying,

“We''re a forward thinking company that always looks to do better in all aspects of our operations. Quality is a very important part of what we do; we aim to be the best in our field and we wanted to give our clients the assurance that we do things to the highest possible standards.”

With their products already meeting rigorous standards, ISO 9001 was the opportunity for Solarglide to demonstrate that they follow best practice in terms of service delivery too. Achieving certification shows that an organisation can delivery a high quality service, consistently. Running a tight ship means less mistakes, less re-work and more satisfied clients!

The solution

With the decision made to achieve ISO 9001 certification, the next step was decided on the right Certification Body. Paul commented on why he decided upon the British Assessment Bureau (BAB),

“British manufacturing is highly regarding in the international market for its quality; I wanted to celebrate the fact that we are a British company. I had also heard goods things about the British Assessment Bureau from a friend''s recommendation, so the choice was easy.”

Gaining buy-in from colleagues is essential for ISO 9001 to truly work; only when everyone is singing off the same hymn sheet will the full benefits be realised. With an existing culture for continual improvement in place, Paul was the figurehead behind implementation, but the whole team were involved throughout."
