TYVA Energie powers Ocergy’s OCG-Data autonomous marine buoy
A 32.6 kWh system based on our Moduloo Ax technology, in service in the Mediterranean since January 2023
TYVA Energie designed the energy system of the OCG-Data buoy developed by Ocergy, a floating offshore wind specialist. Installed off Leucate, France, since January 2023, this 46-tonne autonomous buoy, 15 metres high with a 30-metre span, monitors weather and ocean conditions and collects biodiversity data to assess whether the site is suitable for offshore wind farms.
Ocergy chose lithium over hydrogen or lead-acid to rule out any risk of gas emission or explosion. Ocergy was convinced by the MURENE project, ALSEAMAR’s underwater vehicle powered by our Moduloo Ax batteries, which had demonstrated their reliability in contact with water.
Based on our Moduloo Ax technology, our engineers developed three custom batteries of seven modules each, each fitted with its own BMS and PDU. These three independent storage systems, recharged by wind and solar generators, provide a total of 32.6 kWh of onboard energy and make the buoy fully autonomous. Our project engineer travelled on site to connect the batteries inside the buoy.
Satisfied with the demonstrator, Ocergy is continuing its collaboration with TYVA Energie to equip its next OCG-Data buoys, with the aim of deploying around ten buoys within five years.
