TYVA Energie switches MOBILIS giant buoys to lithium
Our Kube 7 and Kube 12 batteries replace 2 tonnes of lead-acid batteries on board the DB24000
TYVA Energie has equipped several buoys from MOBILIS, a world leader in maritime and river navigation aids, with lithium batteries from its Flat & Kube range, replacing their previous lead-acid batteries. These buoys are true floating laboratories, carrying numerous sensors, and are used in particular by the defence sector.
The main challenge: the DB24000, presented as the largest buoy in the world, with a diameter of over 5 metres and a weight of over 13 tonnes, including 2 tonnes of lead-acid batteries. TYVA Energie equipped it with two Kube 12 batteries, connected in parallel via our CAN Gateway. The result: 130 kg of batteries instead of 2 tonnes, for a lighter, less cluttered buoy that can carry more measuring instruments. Recharged by solar panels and a wind turbine, it also gains in autonomy.
The DB8000 buoy received two Kube 7 batteries and a CAN Gateway, and the BFI submerged float beacon a Kube 7 battery, deployed in summer 2022. All were tested on land before being put in the water. A TYVA Energie engineering project manager travelled on site to commission and configure the batteries, and the TYVA Smart Dashboard app now makes preventive maintenance easier, without dismantling the buoy.
